My first trip to Dublin was full of anticipation and bewilderment at the same time, where to start and what to do in Dublin. There are the sites to see like Kilmannan Gaol—,the Guinness brewery,—the Dublin Zoo,—,Dublin Castle,—There are the tourist spots to shop on Grafton street,– and the tourist pubs by Temple Bar,— all good takes, but there is also the less traveled Dublin just as intriguing and with a little bit of pub street smarts can be a lot of fun.
First off take your time and stop into The Queen of Tarts cafe for a nice cup of tea and a proper Irish scone, if the weather allows (and that’s a big if) go out on the patio and let time slip by for awhile, take a walk, I remember how nice it was to walk down the streets past all the Row houses each with a gorgeous Georgian door painted in that acrylicy thick paint, some bright some dingy but all old. Dublin is a city so don’t expect to much interaction on your walk, Dubliners as a whole are a busy lot. The next thing to do is get familiar with the city itself.
